Frank Pearce (Australia) had had his machine damaged through a fall in the previous race, and Waliy Kilminster fell in the previous heat. Sid Perkins (Australia) won the special nine scratch race. C. Spinks made an attempt to break his own New Zealand reccrd of SOsec, but failed by three-fifths of a second.
