Most farmers have their hay in by this time, although on many holdings stacking operations were hindered by the boisterous conditions. On January IS, 1925, the greatest maximum temperature in many years (S 7 degrees) was recorded here.
Tho Whitiora School baths arc expected to be completed in a fortnight. This is the latest link in the chain of baths aimed at by many Waikato schools, and will be a notable addition to one of the most modern school buildings and grounds in the district. Over £350 toward the scheme was raised locally, and bore a Government subsidy of £2OO.
Ten permits for buildings valued at £ 1,510 were issued in Hamilton last month, compared with a total value of £5,235 in December, 1928. December was the- only month last year when the building returns did not greatly exceed those of the previous year.
