TENNIS TOURNAMENTS
WELLINGTON CHAMPIONSHIPS Press Association WELLINGTON, Wednesday. The Wellington tennis championships commenced today in fine weather with a fairly strong northerly breeze. Miss Marjorie Macfarlane, the New Zealand champion, is competing in the Women's singles. Among the men, I. A. Ser. y (Christchurch), M. L. Lampe (Wanganui), and A. L. France (Wellington), have had no difficulty. Mrs. R. P. Adams beat Miss Nancy Fleming (Otago), 6—B, 6—3, G —l, and Miss D. Howe. I—6,1 —6, 6 —2, 6—l. Miss Marjorie Macfarlane and Miss 1). Nicholls have had easy matches against Miss M. Lee (Wellington). Miss Marion Macfarlane won the first nine games, lost the next ten, and won the next six of the match, 6 —o, 3—6, 6—4.
