LIGHT FOR COOKING
POSITION OF STOVE Quite unnecessarily, most people are content to regard the stove recess in the kitchen as devoid of direct daylight. It is unsually quite easy to provide a sheet of ground glass at the left hand side of the stove, built into the chimney breach, which will shed light on to the stove so that cook may see there are no flies in the soup, and that the grills are proceeding satisfactorily*. The pane of glass should be on the left side so that the shadow of the working right hand is not thrown across the cooking vessels. Similarly the artificial light should be arranged to facilitate work to the utmost and, if possible, the light should be in flexible or bracket form so that it may be moved as w*orking conditions render an altered position necessary-
