Sir Topaz bad a daughter: Both witch and warlock sought her. With what warder Should be guard her When he to hunt or fight was gone Among the knights of Oberon? Around her tower enchanted The loving father planted A row of tall snapdragons bold. Blood-red and sulphur, crimson, gold. -V grimly watch the Dragons keep Over the elf maid in her sleep. Tiie gates are barred to vagrant fay; Toad, snail, and grass-snake crawl away. And even wasps and hornets pause: They dare not face those snapping Jaws.
