LIBRARY QUESTIONS
CONFERENCE IN AUCKLAND An interesting programme has been drawn up for the annual conference of the New Zealand Libraries’ Association, to be held in Auckland on March 4, 5 and 6. Miss Ellen Melville, who presides over the City Council’s Library Committee, will be president at the conference, which was last held in Auckland in 1911. On March 4, a social arranged by the staffs of the libraries of Auckland and the Leys Institute will be held and, the next day, a welcome by the Mayor, Mr. G. Baildon, will be followed by the first session at the Grafton Library Hall. Mr. John Barr, the chief librarian, will give a paper, Miss Melville will speak, and Mr. Clutha Mackenzie will give an address on reading for the blind. The War Memorial Museum, branch' libraries and the University College will be visited. On the last day, papers to be read are “Libraries from the Readers’ Point of View,” Mr. J. W. Shaw, the Auckland Training College; “Library Posters and Publicity,” Mr. J. Norrie, chief librarian, Wellington; and “Libraries and Censorship,” Mr. E. J. Bell, chief librarian, Christchurch.
