MRS. M. McC. SCOTT The death took place at Ureymouth l Aeoti Waek f ° r Mary McCallum bcott, wife of Ml-. W. A. Scott, of Puke:kohe East, at the age of S 3 years. \\ ith her husband she resided at Pukekolie East, .where Mr. Scott farmed tor many years. She leaves her husband, one son, Mr. Ivor Scott (Pukekobe East), three daughters, Mrs. Aobott (Auckland), Misses Meryl and Wilma Scott (Pukekohe East).
MR. B. D. HEWETT Prominent local body administrator and pioneer settler of the Waikato district, Mr. Basil Luff Hewett died at the Bay of Islands last \yeek, aged G 5. Mr: Hewett was a grandson of General Hewett, who fought in the Indian Mutiny and his father participated in the Maori War, in which he met his death toward the close of the campaign. The late Mr. Hewett was chairman of the Raglan County Council for several terms and during the war acted as cable censor at Auckland. The interment took place at Purewa on Sunday.
MRS. SUSAN BREWSTER _ Tllo death occurred at Buckland on batui flay of Airs. Susan Brewster, wife of the late Mr. Charles Brewster, of Y\ nangarata. at the age of 70 years. With her husband, she came to New Zealand in the ship British Empire, airiving at Auckland on February -+ 18 SI. They proceeded to Pokeno! where Air. Brewster was for a short time engaged in flax-milling. Later he acquired a block of land, and from the dense bush carved his home. When he was farm manager for several well-known farmers, his wife and family carried on the farm. She is survived by four sons. Messrs. Albert. George and Herbert Brewster (Whangarata), William Brewster (Waitoa), and three daughters. Airs. C. J. Whitmore (Bombay). Airs. A. R. Hatt (Pukekohe) and Aliss Ellen Brewster (Buckland). There are 14 grandchildren. •
