DESTRUCTOR NUISANCE
COMPLAINTS AT NORTH SHORE MORE MEASURES IN VIEW Commenting’ on a letter received la/>t evening by ill© Joint Standing Committee of the North Shore destructor from Messrs. Russell, McVeagh, Bagnail and Macky, the chairman of the committee, Mr. J. W. "Williamson, said, in his opinion, everything possible liqd been done to eliminate all cause for complaint. Certainly, the destructor nuisance had been lessened to a great extent. The solicitors wrote on behalf of St, Joseph’s Orphanage, intimating that they had been advised that the oilburner installed had not removed all cause for complaint. They asked if it were intended to abate the nuisance and also requested to be supplied with the name of the solicitor to accept service on behalf of the> destructor management committee. An opinion that the oil-burner had failed to remedy the nuisance was received from Mrs. A. Slomfield, president of the Takapuna West Ratepayers’ Association. Reports from the inspectors of Devonport and Takapuna indicate! that wet refuse caused the smoke, jc was decided to consider whether further measures could be taken to mak& the remedy - more effective. r ßje borough councils of Takapuna and Devonport will also be asked to recoin* mend householders to wrap refuse in paper parcels to ensure that tb© garbage will be as dry as possible. The legal firm will be informed thps the committee’s solicitor, Mr. A. M. Gould, would accept service of any* writ were that considered necessary.
