CROQUET CHAMPION

MRS. JARVIE’S HONOUR From Our Own Correspondent PALMERSTON N., Monday. The Dominion championships croquet tournament concluded today, when the last remaining final, that for the open championship, was played off, Mrs. Jarvie, of Wanganui, defeating Mrs. Tiffen, of Napier, 24 —25, 26—20. Mrs. Jarvie is the first woman player to carry off the highest croquet honours in the Dominion. The first game in the final was a close one. both players shooting well and pegging being level throughout. The standard of play in the second game was not high. Mrs. Tiffen was off her shots, and contented herself with a defensive game. Mrs. Jarvie, however, shot remarkably well.
