CAR SAVED FROM TIDE
RESCUERS DISILLUSIONED There are several motorists in Auckland chary of offering assistance. Their chariness is the result of an experience at Muriwal yesterday. They were gathering toheroas when they were called by another motorist; his car had been caught by the incoming tide and was fast sinking into the sand. The toheroa-gatherers employed their car to drag the other vehicle to safety and, in doing so, broke their rear axle. Then came the experience. The rescued motorist announced that he was in a hurry and could not tow his rescuers. He drove off and left the car to the tide. Fortunately for his disillusined fellows, a third car appeared and the damaged vehicle was taken off the beach.
