Mister Gamp, King’s Jest and Fine Acre were favourites for the Mungaroa High -Weight. Pangolin led early, but at the mile post Diana’s Lad went to the front from Moth plane. Pangolin, Marsham. Vivo and King’s Jest. At the half-mile, where Mister Gamp and Courageous were tailed off, Motliplune, Vivo and Fine Acre were making the pace. This trio led into the straight from King’s Jest, who got to the front at the distance and beat Marsham by a length. Fine Acre was a neck away third, with Mister Garnp a similar distance away fourth, followed by Llyn Du. Diana’s Lad, Vivo and Pale Star. Mister Gamp was again unlucky. Jaloux was a hot favourite for the Trial Plate, but after being slow away he failed to run better than second. "Waterline, owned by Sir George Clifford, was making his first appearance, and though slow away soon took up a handy position. Dancing Star led Portray, 'Waterline and Ranelagh into the straight, but Waterline soon took charge and came on to win by a length from Jaloux. Gay Crest was half a head away third, followed by Portray, Banbridge, Tourist Auctioneer and Ranelagh. W r aterline had a big following of Southern backers, who participated in a large dividend. JANUARY HANDICAP Of £450; 1 mile 3 GREAT CHARTER, 8.4 1 30—'TERI. 8.5 2 4 THE HAWK, 8.7 3 Scr.: Malayan. Won by half a length, two lengths between second and third. Time, 1.41|. Clarendon soon took up the running fn the January Handicap, and at the end of a furlong had as his nearest followers Great Charter, Teri, The Hawk, Make Up, and Tcheka. The same order was maintained past the half-mile, but crossing the top Royal Game put in an appearance on the outside. Clarendon, Make Up. and Royal Game raced abreast into the straight, with Great Charter on their heels. The last-named hit the front at the false rail, and, coming away over the last furlong, beat Teri by half a length. The Hawk was two lengths farther back, and was chased home by Rory Mor, Chopin, High FaJutinl, Tcheka. Full Mark, Night Lad, Ti Tree, and Antique. NURSERY HANDICAP Of £500; 6 furlongs 5 GREEN LINNET, 7.9 1 1- 9.3 o 2 JENNY DIVER, S O * 3 All started. Won by half a length, a neck between second and third. Time. 1.144.
