POWER BOARD PICNIC
OUTING AT MOTUIHI ISLAND Nearly 500 employees, their families and firends, spent an enjoyable day's outing at the Auckland Electric-Power Board’s annual staff , picnic at Motuihi Island on Saturday. Sports and games kept the crowd engaged during the afternoon, keen contests being witnessed in the athletic events. The proceedings were enlivened by selections by the Waterside Workers’ Band, which also played dance music on the outward and homeward trips on the ferry. The coveted Osram Cup and gold medal, which is decided on the aggregate points in three events, winners of 100 yards, 220 yards and 440 yards, was won by J. H. Ellis. Other events resulted as follow: —Committee race, Mr. A. H. Coward: veterans’ race, Mr H. Lowe: Burroughs’ race, Miss Jean BeckOn the erturn trip. Mr. W. J. Holdsworth. chairman of the board, presented the trophies to the winners, and congratulated them on their successes.
