It was decided to appoint Mr. I. B. Thomas to represent New Zealand on the International Bowling Board, provided he is not representing any otherbody' on the board simultaneously. It was moved that in vieAv of the small number of entries for the Dominion tournament the annual meeting- of the council should investigate fully the following points, which, in the opinion of the council, had a bearing on the matter of entries: —(I)Alteration of the date of the tournament. (2) The system of play and the programme generally. (3) The effect of local tournaments on the Dominion tournament. The president expressed the opinion that the tournament had been held too early this year, and said February Avould have been more suitable. He thought also that the tournaments Avere far too long. The programme should be confined to rinks only. The rink championship Avas the main feature of the tournament and attracted the greatest number of play*ers. ASSOCIATION CONTESTS KEEN PLAY ON SATURDAY Ideal weather favoured tennis enthusiasts on Saturday afternoon, and playing space on Auckland courts was taxed to capacity. The unfavourable weather of the past season has caused most club and inter-c'.ub competitions to fall well behind schedule, and every available opportunity is now being taken to get matches played off.
The Auckland Lawn Tennis Association’s competitions were advanced a further stage on Saturday afternoon, when a further round of the B, C and D grade contests were played off. For the most part the standard of play was not high: this was particularly the case in the D grade section, where the tennis was little above average secondary school standard. Most of the matches were keenly contested, however, and in the higher grades some very interesting games were p’aved off. Details:
