AKARANA CLUB EVENTS The usual trophy series of matches were fired off by members of the Akarana Rifle Club at the Penrose range on Saturday at 800 yards and 900 yards, for trophies presented by Mr. H. Snell and Mr. Leyland, under fair conditions. Silver spoons were won by J. R. Draffln and E. Starkey. Trophy points were awarded to the three top men in each section. Details of the shooting are as follow: A Section (Mr. H. Snell’s trophy).— E. J. Reston, 47 at 800yds, 44 at 900yds, total 91; J. R. Draffin, 47, 44 —91; G. G. Ashley, 48, 43—91; A. W. CAMBRIDGE From Our Own Correspondent CAMBRIDGE, Saturday. Nine members of the Morrinsville Rifle Club visited Cambridge range today and met Cambridge riflemen in an interesting match. The weather was tine, but the light was a little trying. Morrinsville was represented by F. C. Kennedy, K. Grigg, H. Hay, R. Wallace, F. Davis, McDonald, Underwood, Clark and Carton; Cambridge by F. Green, R. Simpson, A. E. Hill, L#. Webber, M. Keane, G. Harbutt, D. Geater, Cooper. The first five men on each side constituted a representative team in a teams match which was won by Cambridge with an aggregate of 403 (190 at 300yds range, and 213 at 500yds) to Morrinsville’s 371 (176 at 300yds and 195 at 500yds). With one man more than Cambridge, the grand totals for all the men shooting were: Cambridge 611 (312 at 300yds range and 299 at 500yds), Morrinsville also 611 (277 at 300yds range and 334 at 500yds).
