SEA BREEZES ARE ENJOYED BY DANCERS AT [ DIXI ELAN D i J Dixieland, with its long: stretch of windows opening to the sea breezes, is an ideal cabaret for the warm weather, and many visitors attended . on Saturday evening to enjoy the ex- • eellent music provided by Mr. Harry j Xeilson and his orchestra. Many new j and popular numbers were played. Especially beautiful are the new | lighting effects, which, with the charm- | ing frocks worn, made a colourful panorama. AMONG THOSE PRESENT Mrs. C. O. Butler wore a becoming taffeta frock in tones of blue and silver. Mrs. T. G. Wales, whose smart frock of black eire lace was worn over satin. Mrs. J. Morgan chose an ankle-length frock of black satin, with, uneven hemline and an apple green shoulder spray. A delightful frock of absinthe-green georgette with narrow bands of silver lame was worn by Mrs. Watts. Mrs. Arthur Burgess (Wellington) was in black embossed chenille georgette. Black ring velvet, ankle-length at back, was worn by Miss Linda Ray. A pretty frock of ivory satin with embroideries in pastel pink and silver was favoured by Miss L. George. Miss Zoe Mobberley’s chic frock was of black chenille georgette with an uneven hemline. Miss M. Bain had on a charming frock of pale amethyst taffeta with appliques of pastel pink and green. Miss Gwenth McNaughton wore a lovely shade of lavender, with a corsage of ring velvet and skirt of taffeta flounces. Miss C. Mobberley was wearing- willowgreen satin with a large shoulder rose of gold tissue. Miss M. Mobberley had on a smart frock of crepe de chine in a pale chartreuse shade. Miss Dorie Garrett’s becoming frock was of ripple ninon in shades of orange and vellow, with a clasp of diamente. Miss Murray wore lavender georgette with silver lame. Miss Reece had on a frock of apple green taffeta. Miss Eileen Freeman’s frock had a fitting corsage of red and gold embossed geoi'gette, with a bouffant skirt of red. Miss C. Robertson wore black brocaded satin. . , A delightful frock of phlox-pink satin and tulle was worn by Miss Ida George. Miss McDonald (New Plymouth) wore georgette in palest leaf green. ' Blush rose georgette with touches of black was chosen by Miss Forbes. Miss Colleen Costello was in a frock of black lace and satin. Miss D. Edwards was wearing elec-tric-blue georgette, ankle-lengtli, and encrusted with rhinestones. Miss Monica Riley’s frock was of anklelength black taffeta and tulle. Cameo pink taffeta was chosen by Miss Walsh. A N . , Miss D. Smith (Te Awamutu) had on a willow-green taffeta frock prettily embroidered. , ... , Miss Nell Riley (Nelson) wore a frilled frock of buttercup taffeta. Miss Drower (Christchurch) was m scarlet georgette with inlets of gold lace and a black shawl. Miss Mildred Francis wore a frock of lido blue georgette with silver lace on an uneven hemline. Miss Thelma St. Clair Whyte was m a frilled frock of blue georgette and ivory Miss O’Leary wore pale beige georgette and lace, ankle-length at back. . Miss Grace Dyer chose ring velvet in a deep shade of cherry. , Miss B. Smith was in a lovely frock of wild rose taffeta. Miss Marion Phillips’s smart frock was of gold and brocaded lame. Miss N. St. Clair "Whyte wore a taf- | feta frock in a pale parchment shade. Miss Isabelle Lee (Raglan) chose black satin with a deep uneven hem of lace. Miss Maud Valentine’s frock was of embossed chenille in a delightful shade of apple green. Miss Mavis McArthur was wearing a black lace and satin frock. Miss M. Stewart was in a taffeta frock in deep delphinium blue. Miss Estella Norton was in an anklelength frock of silver lame.
