NEW VICTIM OF CAR

RARE BIRD RUN OVER Special to THE SUN DARCtAVILLE, Today. New Zealand motorists are accustomed to running over potholes, rabbits, hares and, in some djstricls, opossums, but a Dargaviile motorist has established a precedent. The other night, at Mangatipa, a kiwi was-blinded by the headlights of a car and was run over. When picked up, the bird seemed to be lifeless. It soon recovered, however, and the motorists liberated it in the bush. Kiwis are scarce in the district, but are reported occasionally.
