CONFIDENCE MAN GAOLED
POSED AS WEALTHY AUSTRALIAN Reed. 11.15 a.m. LONDON, Friday. Scotland Yard describes William Robinson, a bootmaker, aged 62. as the cleverest confidence man in London. Robinson was gaoled for three years for obtaining £2,000 by trickery. The police stated they traced £82,000 obtained by Robinson from various victims, including Australians, to whom Robinson posed as a wealthy Australian mine-owner. He married a former woman associate and resided at Ealing.
