NORTH SHORE TELEPHONES
Sir,— I read your sub-leader on the above subject and wonder whether you are poking- fun or not. Instead of handing out congratulations, it would be more fitting to trounce the department for its scandalous treatment all these years past. You say that we are having our telephone needs anticipated by the department. Great scott! What about all the letters, complaints and deputations of many years past? It is true that there are less than 70 subscribers (I am one), but what can be expected with such a wretched service? It is surprising that there are any at all! I seem to remember that the same promise was made nearly a year ago. Now we are told that if we continue to pay an exorbitant price for a wretched service some months longer we may look for something better in the sweet bye and bye. Another promise! R. DARROW. Birkenhead.
