ROXY AND CRYSTAL PALACE
TWO FINE TALKIES An attractive double-feature programme is being presented at the Roxy Theatre, Queen Street, and the Crystal Palace Theatre, Mount Eden. The first attraction is an all-talking and singing drama, “Mother’s Boy.” Morton Downey, the well-known New York tenor, has the leading masculine role, and his singing is a feature of the film. Associated with Morton Downey is Miss Beryl Mercer, who appeared to advantage in “Three Live Ghosts.” The second feature is a sound-sj-n----chronised and part-talking picture, "Square Shoulders,” Junior Coghlan and Louis Wolheim being the principals, while there is a strong supporting cast. Excellent entertainment is provided in the subordinate singing and dancing films. The programme at the Crystal Palace Theatre will be changed tomorrow, when for a short season Maurice Chevalier’s successful talking and singing* picture, “The Innocents of Paris,” will be presented.
