SEA TRIP SUGGESTED
SICK HINDU MUST LEAVE COUNTRY JUM UNA’S OLD MAHOUT For the sixth time Ata Aii was called at the Foliee Court this morning to explain why he did not leave New Zealand, the term allowed him under his temporary immigration permit having long since expired. He had acquired a business after resigning hisduties as Jumuna’s mahout. Mr. Mclntosh, for the Customs Department, said Aii had been given numerous opportunities to dispose of his business. Mr. McLiver appeared for accused and said the man was suffering from lumbago. Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M.: An ocean voyage is the best thing for that. Counsel produced a medical certificate and urged that the man could not move. “I don’t care about that.” commented the magistrate. “We have given him enough opportunities.” Aii was sentenced to three months’ imprisonment and the warrant was suspended for three weeks to give him an opportunity to leave the country. A deportation order was made.
