Oilligan won the toss and Manawatu is batting. I In; Manawatu batsmen did not open well against the bowling of the Englishmen. After successive maiden overs, the first wicket fell with the score standing at 10. Wickets fell n eelj and at 1 p.m. the score was five wickets for 28. In the remaining 15 minutes before the luncheon adjournment, England got two mure wickets, the score then being eight wickets for G 3. A fruitful partnership between A. M. Ongley and Cutler had advanced the score materially. Legge took four wickets.
