MR. M. G. HARVEY Mr. Matthew Graham Harvey, who has died at Huntly at the age of 83. was born in Ayr, Scotland, and after serving his apprenticeship to shipbuilding he went to sea, spending 50 years of his life at sea. He came to New Zealand in 1897, and joined the Northern Steamship Company, retiring 10 years ago. He is survived by his wife, two sons and three daughters. J. R. DEVEREUX Mr. James Raymond Devereux died in Lewisham Hospital, Christchurch, on Monday, at the age of 39 years. Dorr in Dunsandel, Mr. Devereaux follower the trade of printer for a number o years in Christchurch, later, however, becoming interested in the question o’ food reform and dieting. He was largely instrumental in the founding the the New Zealand Food Reform League, and other organisations, including the Green Leaf Tramping and Athletic Club, were instituted under his guidance. in 1925 and 1929 he offered himself as a candidate for election to the North Canterbury Hospital Board, but was unsuccessful. MR. JAMES GRANGE Well known in Auckland for many years, Mr. James Grange died at his» homo in Princes street. Xortlicote, yesterday, at the age of 74. Born at Ayr, Scotland, he was educated at the Ayr Academy, and at the Edinburgh University, where he qualified in Scottish law. Coming to New Zealand he settled in Auckland, and for many years was associated with the law firm of Dufaur and Biss. Ho was a keen worker in the Old Colonists* Association, of which he was honorarytreasurer. After his marriaro he went to Northcote, where he had c l for 30 years. He was a devout ..umber of St. Andrew’s Church. Mr. Grange is survive'" by his wife and four daughters. MR. A. W. v. DOD Mr. A. W. Wood died at Tauranga on Wednesday at the age of 70. Mr. Wood was a farmer in Taranaki for many years, and was a resident of New Plymouth, where he took an active part in local affairs, being a member of the Borough Council and the Agricultural and Pastoral Association. He j also resided in Auckland for a number I of years, and later bought a farm at Tauranga. He was an active member of the Tauranga Agricultural trd Pastoral Association. He survived by j his widow and three sons.
