BARRED

It is somewhat peculiar that hortes racing in southern centres are allowed a degree of latitude at the barrier that surprises Northerners. But what a different tale is unfolded when horse is noticed misbehaving at Ellerslie. Right on the schooling list he goes, and there he is likely to remain for- some time. Recent instances were Chelone and Catonian, two that by no scretch of the imagination could be cla&sified as bad horses at the barrier. Now there is another on the list. This is the Ellerslie-trained Tea Time, whose future activities will have to be confined to jumping events. Starters have the option of placing horses behind the barrier if they are troublesome. But instead of this a horse that will not come up into lifle is barred altogether by being placed on the schooling list. . Which horse will be next? is the question dissatisfied trainers and owners are asking themselves.
