SCHACHT DISCIPLINED

CONCEDES AUTHORITY OF GERMAN GOVERNMENT OUTCRY FROM OPPONENTS Reed. 10.30 a.m. BERLIN. Tuesday. Even (he Nationalist official organ regrets Dr. Schacht's attitude at The Hague. Others insist that there must be an instant decision as to who shall rule Germany—Dr. Schacht or (he! Government. It is reliably reported that the Chan* cellor, Hermann Mueller, concurs iif the move to clip Dr. Schacht’s wings. A message from The Hague saya there are indications that Dr. Schacht has already been disciplined. He made this statement: “If the Govern-

ments orders the Reichbank to parti, cipqte, I must obey.” It is learned from French that most likely there will be a dramatic sequel to yesterday’s incidents at the Hague Conference concerning Dr. Schacht. These had been foreseen by most of the delegates, therefore the stage was set for the belligerent president of the Reichsbank. There is reason to believe that Dr. Curtius confidentially acquainted M. Tardieu and Mr. Snowden of the conclusion which will be drawn from the attitude of the conference. It is believed that the German Government will endeavour to get rid of Dr. Schacht if necessary through a new Bill dealing with the status of the Reichsbank. This has already been drafted to meet the exigencies of the Young Plan. Certainly the career of the International Bank is not likely to be smooth as long as Dr. Schacht holds his present post. It is stated that Dr. Schacht's action was taken without consultation with the majority of the directors of the Reichsbank.
