MALCOLM CAMPBELL

Sir The article, “The Lure of Speed,” signed by “E.H.S.M.” in your paper, is wrong in the last paragraph. As a regular reader of your motoring notes* which I find most reliable, I am very surprised at this mistake. Malcolm Campbell did not tail at Verneuk Pan, in South Africa. Your paper, at the time, said that his speed of 212 miles made a remarkable new' world’s record for the five miles, and the five kilometres—records which will probably never be beaten. All TO SENSE.
