GUNNERY PRACTICE

VERONICA AND LABURNUM SOUTHERN CRUISE NEXT MONTH The sloops Veronica and Laburnum will both leave Auckland on Friday for Kawau and the Gulf, where gunnery practice will be carried out. Owing to the departure of the Dunedin for Samoa it will now be impossible to carry out the target-shooting which was to have taken place. The sloops will, however, carry out individual exercises for a period of eight days, returning to Auckland on January 25. On February 4 the Veronica and Laburnum will leave on a cruise of New Zealand waters which will occupy three months. They will return to Auckland at the end of April, when they will be docked to refit for a further cruise.
