TRANSPORT TO THE STATION
Sir, Despite the fact that the Auckland Railway Station is nearly complete no outward move has been made by the Transport Board to prepare for the transport of the thousands of people who, in future, must journey from the new terminal to the heart of the City. Is it to be understood from this inactivity that the means of transport provided will be a bus service? If so, I subm it that buses will be quite inadequate for the work. They are comparatively small and the pay-as-you-enter system causes much delay at rush time and great discomfort in bad weather. To do the transport job properly, the board should put down a tram track. Buses are all right in their way, but they have limitations which will show up forcibly if they are used to cater for rush railway work. ANXIOUS. In arranging the lay-out for the new railway station approaches, arrangements were made for the construction of a tramway loop which will permit passengers to board trams, or leave them, at the main entrance to the station.—Ed. The Sun.
