GALLOPS AT TRENTHAM
Press Association WELLINGTON, Today. Rain early this morning again spoiled the tracks at Trentham for fast work, but the weather was fine at 5 o’clock, when work commenced. The outside of the course proper was available for the older horses at a special fee and for two -year- olds. On this course Hunting Call just beat Mythology over four in 51. Sunkissed and Santa Anna sprinted down from the straight six. Cylinder finished in front of Appledore over four in 51. Glare led Panther over seven furlongs in 1.40, the last six in 1.24. Glare’s effort was good. Cimabue jumped away at the five furlongs, going fast early, but ran easily home the last four in 55. Concentrate beat Star Stranger over a mile in 1.53, the first half in 55. Star Stranger might have done better on a dry track, but Concentrate worked well. Knightlike ran four in 51£, going comfortably—a smart effort. Zephyrus and Valrewa covered four in 53. Valrewa may race at Foxton on Thursday. After being intractable at the start,
Lady Pam was beaten by Terterdh over four in 49 3-5. Gesture led Intruder, Ex Dono and Appeal over four in 50. 1 Vertigern was too good for Single- , ton at a mile in 1.50, each half in 55. ; The rest of the work was done on . the trial grass, w r hich was not so good as the course proper, but was compensated for by the horses running the ; exact distances, as against a trifle out t on the main course. Grecian held Talisker at the end of five furlongs in 1.7 3-5, the last four in 51 3-5. Tourist ran four in 51 4-5, and Arikinui was going easily alongside Kali over four in 51 1-5. > Masterton ran the last three of four ' in 42. Oratrix shaped well with Dolomite * over seven in 1.34, the last four in 55. Rational 11. and Habit covered five in l 1.6. 1 Historic, Rory Mor and Malayan were in fairly close order at the end r of seven furlongs in 1.33£, the last five in 1.8. ~ Wine Tray and White Doe took 52A l for half a mile, and Oral and Diana's Lad the last three of four in 38. Joie de , Val and Banket did solid work.
