HUGE STINGAREE CAUGHT
WEIGHED FOUR HUNDREDWEIGHT A surprise awaited a Blockhouse Bay resident, Mr. E. R. Cross, who hooked a huge stingaree while fishing with a schnapper line in the channel last evening. After half an hour's fight, in which a gaff was used to combat the monster’s struggles, it was hauled ashore and was found to weigh four cwt and measure six feet in length and. four feet eight inches across. The top of the tail was fully a foot in diameter. Hung from a tree on the foreshore, the fish attracted attention from many residents.
