INTOXICATED DRIVER FINED £2O
NO DRIVING FOR TWO YEARS Special to THIS SUN ROTORUA, Tuesday. In the Magistrate’s Court today, Joe Rolleston (Mr. Roe) was charged with driving a motor-vehicle on the Hamil-ton-Rotorua Road on December 24 while in a state of intoxication, and driving without a licence. He pleaded guilty to both charges. Sergeant Hogan explained that accused was driving a car on Christmas Eve. He ran into another car, and the passengers were injured. He was then found to be under the influence of liquor and to be without a licence. He was evidently keeping up the festive season. Mr. Roe said accused was a young man with one child. He had bought a ear on the time-payment system. He had unfortunately taken some liquor on account of the season. The magistrate imposed a fine of £2O, in default 14 days’ imprisonment, and gave a fortnight in which to pay. Defendant was debarred from driving for two years. On the second charge he was convicted and discharged.
