HOUSE GUTTED
FIRE AT POINT CHEVALIER THREE BRIGADES ATTEND A five-roomed wooden house at Monoghan Avenue, Point Chevalier was gutted by fire at 1.20 a.rr.. today. Three brigades answered the call, but were unable to save the building. The house is owned and occupied by Mr. A. M. Redgrave, and at the time of the fire only Mrs. Redgrave was at home. Everything appeared in order when she retired to bed, but fire broke out, and she escaped in her night attire. Nothing was saved. The fire, the caus,s of which is unknown, is to have started in the rear portion of the building, and When the Mount Albert Brigade arrived the flames had a good hold, and it was impossible to save the building. The Point Chevalier and City Brigades also attended the outbreak. The house was insured in the Alliance Office for £BOO, and the contents for £3OO in the Northern Office.
