“TOO MUCH TALK!”
SNOWDEN MORE EXPRESSIVE THAN POLITE GERMANS AGAIN REBUKED THE HAGUE, Saturday. The delegates representing the six chief Powers of The Hague Conference met yesterday to discuss technical and financial points in regard to payments and reparation by Germany. On resuming this moruing M. Jaspar (Belgium) asked: "Where are we now?” Mr. Philip Snowden i Britain): “Nowhere.” Again he demanded that the German delegates should get down to facts. M. Cheron (France) also expressed disappointment that the German delegates had not submitted concrete proposals on the various points to be discussed. Herr Meldenhaurer began to explain the attitude of the German delegates, but Mr. Snowden curtly interrupted him, saying: “There has been too much talk by the German delegation. This discussion has lasted too long. It is intolerable. When one is a plenipotentiary one should be able to settle matters without having to refer to someone else.’ This blunt hint resulted in Dr. Curtius promising that the Germans would submit the desired concrete proposals within two hours. He said he would send the Under-Secretary tc Geneva instead of going there himself. Uneasiness prevails in German quarters in view of Dr. Schacht’s expected arrival tomorrow in regard to the standpoint he will adopt on the unsettled points.
