HONOURED

THERE are times when the great services rendered to any community, whether it be sporting or otherwise, are acknowledged most suitably. A typical instance of was recorded at the Thames Jockey Club's races on Saturday, when the president of the club, Mr. Henry Lowe, presented handsome gold badges of life membership to Miss M. K. Toohill and Messrs. F. D. McVay and W. Adams. Miss Toohill is a popular and well-known figure in the district, whiie her support of racing has been most enthusiastic and practical. Mr. McVay is well known to all sporting enthusiasts, and the honour accorded him by the Thames Jockey Club will be unanimously acclaimed as most appropriate. Mr. Adams, too, has been a good friend to the Thames Jockey Club. It was an interesting little function which commended itself to all present.
