TROPHY WINNER

TT was regarded as exceedingly A appropriate that Mr. H. Rama’s horse, Taneriri, should win the Thames Plate last Saturday afternoon. This horse had scored in the Goldfields Cup on the opening day of the Thames meeting, but there was no trophy attached to that event. For the Thames Plate that loyal supporter of the Thames Jockey Club, Miss Toohill, had donated a canteen of cutlery, and the winning of this would be some compensation for Taneriri’s owner. During the presentation it was stated that Miss Toohill was delighted that Mr. Rama should have won this race, for some time ago her life had been saved by a Maori. So that the Thames Plate result could not have turned out better.
