ELEVEN KILLED IN SMASH
EXPRESS HITS GOODS TRAIN HEAD-ON FATALITY IN INDIA Reed. 9.5 a.m. DELHI, Friday. Eleven Indians were killed and 13 injured in a railway smash at Barei-lly, when the Peshawar-Lucknow express, entering the station after midnight, collided head-on with a stationary goods engine. The impact was so terrific that the express engine climbed the goods train engine. The first four carriages were telescoped, while six goods wagons were flung off the rails. The engine crews had a miraculous escape. The express, which was travelling at 50 miles an hour, was deflected on to a loop line, where the goods train was standing.
