NO TIME TO WASTE
SNOWDEN REBUKES GERMAN DELEGATES HARMONY ON REPARATIONS British Official Wireless Reed. 11.36 a.m. RUGBY, Friday. The six chief delegates to The Hague Conference continued a discussion today of technical financial points, and it is hoped that during the day an agreement will be reached on several important subjects, including the date of payments. A message from The Hague says Mr. Philip Snowden reminded the German delegates of the necessity for avoiding needless discussion on technicalities, as the time was short. The Germans took the rebuke in good part. The Germans are preparing coun-ter-proposals to the French suggestions upon sanctions. At the conference steady progress was reported today. There was a pleasant atmosphere of harmony, perhaps because the question whether Germany should pay on the 15th or the 30th of each month had been shelved for the time being. It is stated that Mr. Snowden (Britain) and M. Tardieu (France) have reached a general understanding, which is in contrast with the state of affairs between England and France at the August conference. Mr. Snowden, speaking at a journalists’ luncheon to the peace delegates, paid a tribute to the mutual friendly relations existing. He afterward said he hoped all outstanding questions would be decided by the six Powers pn January 13, when, he believed, the full commission would be able to report a settlement of the German reparations problems.
