THRILLS ON CINDERS

CONTESTS AT RLANDFORD PARK Exciting contests, such as have been staged in the past few weeks, are expected at the Blandford Park Speedway on Monday evening, when the best Auckland riders will compete The principal event on the programme is the Big Six Championship between Cyril Walker, holder of the gold helmet. A. Lemon, C. Goldberg, L. Coulthard, J. Peek and R. Bull. These riders are daring and skilful, and some fine racing should be seen. Twelve riders will compete in the big handicap, and in addition there will be an improvers’ handicap. Two special challenge races will aso be seen, Charlie Goldberg opposing Alby Lemon, and Jack Peek, of Australia, trying conclusions with Rick Bull, one of the most improved of Auckland riders. Len Coulthard and Cyril Walker are to attempt to lower Goldberg’s lap record of 19 seconds. With such a line programme spectacular riding and thrilling races should be seen. The majority of riders at Blandford Park have shown great improvement in the past few weeks, when the racing has produced exciting finishes. The local riders will have to look to their laurels very soon, as the overseas team of riders which has been engaged by the management, is on its way to New Zealand, and will soon be seen in competition.
