INDIGNATION MEETING CANCELLED LACK OF PUBLIC SUPPORT United P.A. —By Telegraph—Copyright APIA, Friday. A public indignation meeting was to have been held tonight to discuss the actions of the police on December 28, the date of the recent riot. The meeting was cancelled owing to lack of public support. ORDER DISOBEYED SAMOANS IN MOURNING A radio message has been received by the Hon. O. F. Nelson from Mr. Hall Skelton, bis legal representative, who is now in Samoa. Tbe message, which was handed in on Wednesday and received here late on Friday, reads as follows: -Administrator has issued an order to 58 Samoans to attend him today. They refused, stating that they were in mourning. Ho issued notices to 20 Samoans to surrender to him by noon on Saturday. The order includes all our sub-poenaed witnesses, mostly all on charges arising from the recent happening. „ . Faumuina, although walking the streets of Apia for seven weeks, is charged now with abusive language in his speeches on his return from New Zealand. A further notice has been issued to all Samoans not resident in the areas of Faleata and Vaimauga to return home by Saturday. “Your case cannot now be heard on February 20. The whole happening since my arrival is now quite transparent. Today the Administrator refused free conduct to court witnesses for the inquest, thus blocking same. On these grounds Europeans are now afraid to make a strong protest. “Samoans say ‘They will never break the Mau now, except by killing us all.* They will never forget Black Saturday. If the Colonial Office refuses to take over the Government, they will cede to America.” 1
