NEWS OF WIFE’S DEATH
CHICHESTER GETS PAPERS AT TRIPOLI Reed. 11.5 a.m. LONDON, Thursday. Captain R. C. Chichester, writing from Tripoli, mentions that he has found news of his wife’s death in the Malta newspapers, which are the only journals in the English language available. On December 20, Captain R. C. Chichester, described as a wealthy young New Zealander, took oft from Croydon in a Moth plane for Australia. He unexpectedly arrived at Croydon at midnight. Only a handful of airdrome officials saw him take off in a Moth, in brilliant moonlight, at 3 a.m., in perfect conditions. He shouted: “Cheerio. lam off to Australia.” Later he made a forced landing _at Tripoli, and is now awaiting the arrival of a new propellor from England.
