Club Cricket Again

GRADES RESUME TOMORROW Parnell and Grafton Meet AFTER the feast of big cricket during the holidays, patrons of cricket will have to be satisfied with ordinary club games again tomorrow, when the competitions in all grades of the Auckland Cricket Association will be resumed. The featured match is the Parnell-Grafton game, which will be played on No. 1 wicket at Eden Park.

Tomorrow’s senior matches will be the seventh and last in the first round of the competition, and will naturally have some considerable bearing on the championship. Parnell is at present leading by two points over University, and unless the Graftonians can lower the Parnell colours tomorrow, Parnell will hold pride of place when the first round ends. The maroon and gold men have been further strengthened by the inclusion of H. G. Vivian, a younger brother of L. E. Vivian, of the Eden first eleven, and last season captain of the Mt. Albert Grammar School first eleven. lI.G. has just returned from the South after touring with Mr. E. C. Beale’s Auckland touring cricket team. Except for the absence of R. \V. Rowntree, Auckland representative wicketkeeper, Grafton will be at full strength. The University-Ponsonby match on No. 2 wicket at headquarters also promises to be a close one, and Ponsonby, which will be further strengthened by the reappearance of Don Cleverley in senior ranks, should go very near to winning. Eden should be able to gain the decision over Y.M.C.A., and at North Shore United Suburbs can be expected to set the Devonport men a hurdle. Eollowing are tomorrow’s teams: Senior A Grade Parnell.—A.
