DO YOU KNOW—?

HOW TO COVER JAM? Cut a round of paper a little larger than the tcp of the jampot. Brush it over both sides with a paste of cold water and flour. Cover the pot with this while the jam is still very hot. Press down with the palms of the hands, and it will stick firmly to the jar. When cold the cover will be hard as a drum. I have done this for years and never had any mildew. The pots must be well sterilised, of course. HOW TO REMOVE COFFEE STAINS? The most difficult of all stains to take out are those made by coffee, especially if cream or milk is mixed with it. To remove these stains from the most delicate silk or woollen fabric rub them lightly with pure glycerine, rinse in luke-warm water, and press on the wrong side till dry. The glycerine absorbs the stain and grease.
