"THE WAGON MASTER” Rapid fire action characterises? every minute of “The Wagon Master,” Ken Maynard’s all-talking picture which is now at the Roxy Theatre. It is his first Western with songs and dialogue. Maynard. with the aid of his famous horse "Tarzan,” opens a new bag of riding tricks that confirm him in his position as a leading Western star. There is fighting and riding of every kind and variety throughout the picture. “The Wagon Master” is a story of the wagon, freighter, a bold and reckless breed of men who carried supplies to isolated mining camps and army posts in the days of the old West. The plot of the picture concerns the efforts of Maynard, as “The Rambler ,” to break an unscrupulous monopoly that is starving out the camps of the region through the high prices charged for supplies. The film is featured by a whip fight between Maynard and A 1 Ferguson, his rival in love and trade. Edith Roberts makes a most attractive heroine. Others in the well-balanced cast are Frederick Dana, Tom Santschi, little Jackie Hanlon, Bobby Dunn, White Horse and Frank Rice. A full programme of short talking and singing items is also being presented. Roland Young has been chosen by Cecil' B. De Mille as the first of the players who will make up the cast for “Madame Satan.” Since joining Metro-Ooldwyn-Mayer, Young has appeared in “Unholy Night.” “Wise Girls” and ‘The Bishop Murder Case.”
