ROBBED EMPLOYER
SALESMAN REMANDED FOR INQUIRIES NOT GIVEN LIBERTY Pleading guilty at the Police Court this morning to three charges of theft, Ernest Morley Adams was remanded for a week for sentence. “It is alleged that he had a _ key to his employer’s premises and went back late at night to thieve,” said ChiefDetective Hammond. Adams, a salesman, aged 40, admitted three charges of stealing goods and money totalling £l4 16s from Bernard Mason. The offences were said to have been committed on May 2, November 4 and November 20. Mr. Smyth appeared for accused and asked for bail in accused’s own recognisance. “He has made a frank admission of everything,” said counsel. “His wife lives at Devonport, and he wants his, liberty to be with his family. The chief-detective said he wished to make further inquiries as there was a suggestion that there were defalcations from the employer. Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M.. refused bail but instructed the probation officer to prepare a report on the man dui--ing the remand. “I shall consider when he comes up for sentence that he has already been in gaol for a week,’’ added the magistrate.
