NEW ZEALAND IMPROVES SERVICE NEW PLANT AT RAROTONGA Reed. 1.10 p.m. SYDNEY, Today. In furtherance of its plan to modernise the Pacific wireless stations under its control, the New Zealand Government has commissioned Amalgamated Wireless of Australasia to instal a new transmitter at Rarotonga, replacing the older equipment. This station will then form an important link in the network of wireless spanning Oceania, the centre of which is Suva. The Rarotonga station will be used chiefly to link up with Wellington and Apia.
