UNEMPLOYED INCREASE

PRIME MINISTER TO INVESTIGATE

Mr. M, J. Savage yesterday telegraphed the Prime Minister, Sir Joseph Ward, stating that unemployment was increasing in Auckland and that a number of skilled tradesmen had been discharged from the Otahuhu Railway Workshops, and were still unemployed. He asked if anything could be done to relieve the position. Sir Joseph has replied as follows: “Have received your telegram regarding unemployment, and am looking- into position at once with a view to seeing what can be done to relieve the position.”
