THEFT OF ANVIL
THREE MEN BEFORE COURT ONE CHARGED WITH VAGRANCY From Our Own Correspondent A charge of having broken and entered the house of John Desmond Ryan at Waihi on July 30 and stealing an anvil and three coils of barbed wire valued at £4 15s was jointly preferred against Claude Haines, 21, and 1 Charles Arnold Higgs, slaughterman, ' 28, and Edward Charles Kennerley, pig farmer. 56, before Mr. J. Munrrav, J.P., in the Waihi Police Court today. All three were on the application of Sergeant D. L. Calwell remanded for a week. Higgs and Kennerley were allowed bail in one surety of £SO each. Haines, who was also charged with being an idle and disorderly person, in that he had insufficient means of support, was remanded in custody.
