SWIMMING IN RIVER FATALITY NEAR PATEA Special to THE SL'X NEW PLYMOUTH, Today. A young man, L. Soutliow. aged 19, was drowned at Patea on Monday afternoon. He was seen swimming in the river, and two boys were close at hand when he disappeared. They gave the alarm, but no help was available nearer than the town. Constable Kelly and helpers were ; soon on the scene, but, as the water was discoloured through floods, they were unable to secure the body.
