TIVOLI
“THREE LIVE GHOSTS” An excellent comedy adapted from the well-known English stage play “Three Live Ghosts” is the chief feature at the Tivoli Theatre, and, from the enthusiasm which lias greeted the showing, is entitled to be ranked with the most popular pictures shown in Auckland this season. Charles McNaughton, Robert Montgomery and Claud Allister fill the main roles with credit, while Beryl Mercer, in a difficult character role, gives a sterling performance. The excellent talking of the principals is a feature which has appealed to local audiences. BRITANNIA, THREE LAMPS “The Donovan Affair,” an exciting tal© of the battle between the law and criminals, starring Jack Holt as a police inspector, continues to enter'tain audiences at the Britannia Theatre, Three Lamps. It is an alltalkie with particularly clear dialogue. The story revolves around a mysterious murder at a dinner party in a coLintry house, committed by any one of 12 different people. The police discovered the culprit by a process of elimination, but not before a second murder was committed. An excellent supporting programme is also b£ing shown.
