READY FOR CONFERENCE

BRITISH PRIME MINISTER BUSY DELEGATES’ RECEPTION British Official Wireless Reed. 10.40 a.m RUGBY, Monday. The Prime Minister, Mr. Ramsay MacDonald, who is spending the Christmas Parliamentary recess at his native town, Lossiemouth, Scotland, has been closely engaged during the past week with work relating to the Five-Power Naval Conference, which opens on January 21. He has been in daily telephonic communication with Downing Street, and has kept the closest touch with developments in connection with the conference. Mr. MacDonald is due to leave for London on Thursday, and on Saturday he will meet the party of delegates who are to be present at the conference. NOT COOL TO JAPS VACATION KEEPS PREMIER AWAY FRANCE’S NAVAL AIMS Reed. 1 p.m. TOKYO, Monday. Official circles do not endorse the comments appearing in certain newspapers that Britain’s reception to the Japanese delegates to the Naval Conference is cool compared to that accorded the Americans. They realise that the holiday season has interposed obstacles. It appears that the Prime Minister, Mr. Ramsay MacDonald, has offered to come to London or welcome the delegates at Lossiemouth, but the delegates preferred not to disturb the Premier’s vacation. The Japanese Government leaz-ns that; France proposes two naval agreements, the first a short-dated agreement in London, and the second a wider permanent agreement through the League of Nations.
