DISEASES DECREASE
AUCKLAND DISTRICT FIGURES Infectious disease cases reported in the four health districts of the Auckland Province during December show a decrease of 51 compared with November. Of the 181 cases notified last month, 75 were of scarlet fever. The principal decreases were in tuberculosis 20. scarlet fever 19 and pneumonia six. In Auckland Central there were 99 cases, including scarlet fever 51, diphtheria 20, enteric fever two, tuberculosis 10. pneumonia 12, erysipelas four, puerperal fever seven, tetanus one. ; dysentery two. A total of 28 cases were notified in the South Auckland district, including scarlet fever eight, diphtheria three, enteric fever six, tuberculosis seven, pneumonia one, puerperal fever two, and tetanus one. The 31 cases in the North Auckland area included scarlet fever nine, diphtheria nine, tuberculosis seven, influenza, pneumonic, one, pneumonia tw r o, erysipelas two, eclampsia one. In the Thames-Tauranga district there w’ere 23 cases, including scarlet fever seven, enteric fever one, tuberculosis two, influenza, pneumonic, one, pneumonia seven, erysipelas one. puerperal fever one, eclampsia one, tetanus tW’O.
